Irish Sport Horse Magazine #25

Hi Everyone, welcome to another edition of Irish Sport Horse Magazine, and we have some super articles for you this time. We are officially in business 2 Years! Where did that time go? For this Issue we said that we would take a look into the History of the Irish Sport Horse, its lineage and just what makes this special breed, one of the most loved and revered breeds in the world today. Our lovely cover is my own Irish Sport Horse, White Squall, which I bred. He is a Traditional Irish Horse, by the great Stallion Cruising out of Solara, my TIH mare that I showjumped quite successfully with, during my teens.

Could you use an extra pair of hands around the yard? If so, check out the piece from Equipeople who are instrumental in placing lots of eager Equine Students who want to gain valuable work experience in many sectors of the Irish Equine Industry. If this sounds good to you, check our their article for more details.

In Horse Care, Jordan Bastian shares her views on the best Bedding materials for your horse and which type is best suited to the stabling or shelters that you have available. Also this time we take a look at some horse health issues that are quite appropriate to the time of year. We discuss the signs and symptoms of Thrush, the cause and how to correctly treat the problem. Plus we also discuss Lymphangitis, what can cause the disease and the best course of treatment in the event of an attack.

For our Irish Equestrian Feature, Jordan tracked down Ian Molan, an Irish Equestrian who gave up horses for the thrill of the 8 Seconds while riding a bull! Ian shares his journey from Irish Equestrian to Professional Bull Riding, with all the thrills and spills along the way.

We also take a peek at some of the Highlights of Irish Equestrian Sport on the International Stage during October, and although Ireland is in Level 5 Lockdown, our Irish Riders and Horses have kept the Irish Flag Firmly Flying in International Equestrian Sport!

To finish on a positive note, we share our short poem highlighting the strengths of our wonderful Irish Horse. Until next time everyone, chin up and remember keep your eyes on Christmas and cherish the hope of being able to meet, greet and hear familiar voices and share fun with family and friends once again. Keep Smiling:-)
